Between 1989 and 1990 the Bulgarian Air Force took delivery of 18 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 fighters type 9-12. One of them was lost on 29 September 1994 in the vicinity of Ravnetz airbase during the low level training flight killing the pilot - colonel Ivan Daev.
