Flogger-K is a multirole fighter, the last version of MiG-23. The engine is R-35F-300 with 133,4kN / 13100 kgf thrust. The aircraft has modified flight control, aerodynamics and weapons control. The radar is S-23MLD "Sapphire" (the original version is product 008, capable to trace 4 targets simultaneously and to engage 2 of them, but our Floggers have simplified version - product 008E /export/ and is capable to attack only 1 target). The radar has detecting range up to 85 km and tracking distance 60 km. There is new IRST with detecting range 80 km if the target uses afterburner and 60 km in other regimes. IRST has 5 combat modes depending on the distance to the target. The sensor is under the airframe, behind a prismatic glass fairing. The new engine and the different upgrades made MiG-23MLD a very capable fighter in the time of its service, with high rate of climb (240 m/s), agile, with good radar capabilities and powerful armament. In some local wars it was in much worse position to its enemies because of the AWACS support, but showed high effectiveness. Its inventory allows to be used for ground attacks. Disadvantage is the lack of armour. For counteraction to heat seeking Stinger SAMs out the backside of the central section there is two chaff/flare dispensers. Flogger-K is capable of dropping a nuke.

Armament: The jet is equipped with one twin-barreled 23-mm GSh-23 cannon with 200 rounds. It can take up to 2000 kg bombs in different combinations, including KAB-500KR and KAB-500L, napalm containers, nukes, four rocket pods UB-16 or UB-32 for S-5K and S-5M, high caliber S-13 and S-24, air-to-air missiles R-60, R-60M, R-23, R-24, R-3R(K-13), air-to-ground missiles X-23, X-25, X-29
